Tricksters on Polcon – scientifically about pop culture

You will have the opportunity to listen to the presentations of The Association of Pop Culture Researchers and Pop-cultural Education „Trickster” members. Young researchers and students from the The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster” will be talking, among others, about science fiction in the Mr Kleks films or Star Wars parodies.

During this year’s Polcon tricksters and the members of The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster” (operating at the University of Wrocław) will give 17 lectures about, inter alia, comic books, fantasy or folk demons. Below are the detailed summaries of lectures.

Tricksters on Polcon:

Thursday:

– 2:00 p.m. – Life and Times of Guardians of the Galaxy (Jakub Wieczorek, The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster”) – Room 6 (Comic books),

– 3:00 p.m. – The turbulent history of Thunderbolts or Marvel’s Suicide Squad (Michał Wolski) – Room 6 (Comic books),

– 5:00 p.m. – This guy is no pushover! Unique hero for unique times – Luke Cage (Julian Jeliński) – Room 6 (Comic books),

– 7:00 p.m. – Do Watchmen need to be watched? (Jakub Wieczorek, The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster”) – Room 6 (Comic books).

Friday:

– 10:00 a.m. – Fanfics in numbers (Karolina Zwierzyńska, The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster”) – Room 1 (Superheroes),

– 12:00 a.m. – Academic conference: Fantastic Worlds: module II, Adam Flamma, a Trickster, among the speakers – Room 5 (Steam/Cyber Punk),

– 6:00 p.m. – The Phantom Menace – the best Star Wars film (Michał Wolski) – Room 2 (Science Fiction),

– 8:00 p.m. – Master Yogurt, Spaceballs and Volkswagen ads. The fantastic world of Star Wars parodies (Julian Jeliński) – Room 2 (Science Fiction).

Saturday:

– 11:00 a.m. – The folk witch and the modern witch. A witch according to Hubert „Spięty” Dobaczewski (Natalia Kościńska) – Room 4 (Horror and Thriller),

– 12:00 a.m. – Academic conference: Fantastic Worlds: module IV, Joanna Płoszaj, a Trickster, among the speakers – Room 5 (Steam/Cyber Punk),

– 5:00 p.m. – Do androids dream of the battle überpasta? Science Fiction elements in Mr Kleks films (Radosław Pisula) – Room 2 (Science Fiction).

Sunday:

– 10:00 a.m. – Gender stereotypes in Omegaverse (Karolina Zwierzyńska, The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster”) – Room 1 (Superheroes),

– 11:00 a.m. – Is having a few screws loose a symptom of madness or genius? – a few words about more and less mad scientists (Ewelina Dratkiewicz, The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster”) – Room 2 (Science Fiction),

– 1:00 p.m. – Folklore inspires. Stories about folk demons in selected folk songs (Natalia Kościńska) – Room 4 (Horror),

The Trickster Association would also like to invite you to a lecture by professor Anna Gemra from the University of Wrocław who is the supervisor of the The Student Pop Culture Research Club „Trickster” (which is affiliiated with the Trickster Association). Lecture „What is there to fear? The prop room of the world of horror” will begin on Friday at 4 p.m. in Room 4 (Horror).
